Criminology and Criminal Justice

This programme provides students with an advanced understanding of contemporary debates in criminal law and criminal justice.

Entry requirements

A UK 2.1 Honours degree or its equivalent if outside the UK; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE(A) 67 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade B or CAE grade A.

Course modules

International criminal law; philosophical foundations of criminal law; organised crime and the law ; criminalisation; EU criminal law; sexual offending and the law; criminal justice and penal process; global crime and insecurity; cybercrime; gender, crime and criminal justice; media and crime; mental health and crime; penal politics; police and policing.

Assessment methods

Courses are assessed primarily by way of essay and other written work, but oral presentations may also be required.
