This programme provides students with structured research training while at the same time enabling them to pursue a research project which they design themselves, in consultation with supervisors; it serves as both a self-contained research degree and a preparation for further study for the PhD degree.
A UK 1st Class or 2.1 Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent in a relevant discipline is normally required; applicants whose 1st language is not English (applicants before September 2014) require: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE 61 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade C or CAE grade B; applicants whose 1st language is not English (September 2014 entry onwards) require: IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE(A) 67 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade B or CAE grade A.
