Classical Art and Archaeology

This programme explores the ancient Greek and Roman worlds from the Iron Age through the Late Roman/Early Christian period through their material remains.

Entry requirements

A UK 1st Class or 2.1 Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent in a relevant discipline is normally required; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE(A) 67 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade B or CAE grade A.

Methodology seminars in classics; professional skills in classics; bronze age civilisations of the near east and Greece ; byzantine archaeology; classical Greek sculpture; Egypt under the Ptolemies; elementary Greek 1 and 2; elementary Latin 1 and 2; Etruscan Italy 1000-300 BC; Greek vase painting; Hellenistic art ; late antique visual culture; roman archaeology; roman funerary art; roman imperial monuments; intermediate Greek 1 and 2; intermediate Latin 1 and 2; the late roman city in Asia minor; the Hellenistic city.
