Students undertake a seminar based programme of research methods training in core research skills and subject-specific methodologies; they also take 2 option courses covering areas of American literature and culture related to their chosen fields and write 2 extended essays in relation to these courses.
Applicants should submit a sample of their written work (3-4,000 words) in addition to their research proposal; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 7.0 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 100 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE(A) 67 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade B or CAE grade A.
