Social Work

Entry requirements

A UK 2.1 degree, or its international equivalent, in a relevant discipline is usually preferred, but other qualifications may be considered. Applicants must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of social work and a sound motivation to train as a social worker, preferably through a period of paid or voluntary work in a social care or social work setting. Students will normally have at least 1 year�s workplace experience before applying. Students may still be considered for a place without social work or social care experience if they have other work or professional experience. Applicants are expected to demonstrate ability to transfer their learning and experience, and to manage complex relationships in personal or work contexts. If English is not the 1st language, 1 of the following qualifications as evidence of spoken and written English: IELTS: total 7.0 (at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL-iBT: total 100 (at least 20 in each module); PTE(A): total 67 (at least 56 in each of the 'Communicative Skills' sections); CAE and CPE: total 185 (at least 169 in each module). Applicants who have completed a CAE or CPE before January 2015 should contact the Admissions Office for the accepted grades.
