Strength and Conditioning

This course examines a wide range of academic and practitioner needs; the emphasis is on sports performance, but significant focus is also given to injury prevention and issues relevant to the elderly and rehabilitation clients.

Entry requirements

A UK 2.1 Honours degree or its international equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as sport and exercise, is normally required; alternatively, applicants may be considered on the basis of employment or relevant experience; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE 61 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade C or CAE grade B.

Course modules

Core modules include: understanding research concepts; research process; professional skills; physiology of strength and conditioning; physio-mechanical aspects of resistance training; nutritional factors and ergogenic aids; paediatric and environmental factors for training.
