Additional Support for Learning (Bilingual Learners)

This programme is targeted to English as a second/additional language teachers, mainstream teachers with bilingual children in their classes and bilingual support teachers; it provides support for teachers in facilitating bilingual learners� access to the curriculum.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirement is a UK 2.1 honours degree, or its international equivalent in a relevant discipline; alternatively, applicants may be considered on the basis of employment or relevant educational experience; applicants should normally be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, and currently be working with, or have access to, pupils with English as an Additional Language.

Course modules

The developing bilingual learner; bilingualism and other additional support needs; collaborative working in children�s services ; conceptualising research; education for all; promoting achievement and curriculum access; sources of knowledge.

Assessment methods

Dissertation.
