Entrepreneurship and Innovation

This programme is designed to complement research-led and theoretically-informed education, with a clear focus on the development of practical skills and opportunities for the application of knowledge to real-life organisational situations and issues.

Entry requirements

A UK 1st Class or 2.1 Honours degree from a good university in any disciplinary area, or its international equivalent. If English is not the 1st language, applicants must have 1 of the following qualifications as evidence of their spoken and written English: IELTS: total 7.0 (at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL-iBT: total 100 (at least 20 in each module); PTE(A): total 67 (at least 56 in each of the "Communicative Skills" sections); CAE and CPE: total 185 (at least 169 in each module).

Course modules

Students take 5 core courses in semester 1 and 2 core courses in semester 2: the entrepreneurship and innovation landscape (0 credits); entrepreneurship and new venture creation in context (15 credits); managing innovation in context (15 credits); methods of business research (15 credits); entrepreneurial finance (15 credits); venture management and growth in practice (15 credits); managing innovation in practice (15 credits); option courses. Students select 2 electives (totalling 30 credits) from a choice of 3 in the 2nd semester. this is where students can tailor a studies towards a career interests. options will be reviewed each year to ensure that they are directly relevant to the needs of today's organisations. The option courses may include:design thinking; entrepreneurial management and leadership; technology commercialisation and the entrepreneurial ecosystem; dissertation

Assessment methods

All courses are assessed through a combination of individual or group-based assignments, for example, group presentations, group and individual reports and essays, case study analyses and business reports and a dissertation.
