This programme provides the opportunity for advanced trainees in general surgery to select those modules relevant to their declared subspecialty, and supports learning for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) examinations. Illustrative cases cover technical skills and procedures as well as core knowledge and clinical skills.
Applicants require a basic medical qualification recognised by the General Medical Council; applicants also require MRCS (or an equivalent assessment milestone) and be an advanced trainee in general surgery (ST 5/6 in UK or equivalent outside UK); applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE 61 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade C or CAE grade B.
This programme is taught entirely online and comprises core generic modules in emergency surgery and critical care including the assessment and care of the surgical patient.
