Materials Chemistry

The programme consists of advanced lecture courses such as properties and reactions of matter, chemistry of functional materials, physical techniques in action, and techniques and concepts in materials chemistry; these are studied concurrently with a predominantly practical based course offering an introduction to research methods; students then proceed to a period of full time research project work leading to the submission of their Master's dissertation.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have at least a 2.1 Honours degree, or its equivalent, in chemistry or a closely related discipline; applicants whose 1st language is not English require: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each module); TOEFL internet-based test 92 (with at least 20 in each module); PTE 61 (with at least 56 in each of the communicative skills sections); or CPE grade C or CAE grade B.
