The minimum entry requirement is a UK 2.1 degree, or its international equivalent, in informatics, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, computer science, electrical engineering, linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, physics or psychology, plus experience in computer programming. If English is not the 1st language, students must have one of the following qualifications as evidence of their spoken and written English: IELTS academic module, 6.5 (with score no lower than 6.0 in each section); TOEFL internet-based test, total 92 (with no score lower than 20 in each section); PTE, 61 (with no score lower than 56 in each section); CPE grade C; CAE grade B.
Compulsory courses: design for informatics; case studies in design informatics; designing with data; design informatics project; design informatics, histories and futures; dissertation. Optional courses: advanced natural language processing; computer graphics; extreme computing; introduction to vision and robotics; text technologies; advanced databases; automatic speech recognition; data mining and exploration; informatics entrepreneurship and digital marketplace. Individual research project; and dissertation.
