Criminology and Criminal Psychology

This course offers an advanced qualification that is designed to equip graduates with a thorough understanding of cutting-edge and important topics within criminology and criminal psychology. Upon completion, we offer the opportunity for you to progress on to study for a full Masters (awarded after 180 credits).

Entry requirements

Academic entry route: An undergraduate degree from an approved institution equivalent to a UK Honours degree or a relevant professional qualification. If English is not your first language, your English ability should be equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 6.5.

Work experience entry route: At least 5 years' senior level work experience. If English is not your first language, your English ability should be equivalent to IELTS (Academic) 6.5.

Course modules

Core modules: criminal victimisation (20 credits); applied forensic psychology (20 credits); crime, causation and criminological theory (20 credits); complex criminal investigations (20 credits); practical psychology for policing (20 credits); advanced research methods (20 credits).

Assessment methods

We adopt an assignment-based approach to assessment instead of exams. Assessment will be based on a combination of written coursework.
