Psychodynamic Approaches

This course is the ideal bridge for psychology students who wish to progress in the field of psychodynamic counselling. It also provides a route into counselling and psychotherapy for professionals, such as teachers, social workers, nurses and care workers.

Entry requirements

Our applicants should have a good first degree (1st or Upper 2nd Class) or an equivalent professional qualification. Applicants without such qualifications, who can otherwise demonstrate relevant experience and academic ability, will also be considered. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Course modules

Modules include: Counselling contexts; personality development; organisational dynamics; psychodynamic concepts; psychodynamic observation; counselling skills with children and adolescents; personal development.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include a combination of written coursework, end-of-term tests, practical and laboratory work (where appropriate) and end-of-year exams
