Acting

This course is aimed at those wishing to become professional actors. This course is also open to professional actors who feel the need to understand more about their technique, extend their range and gain academic recognition. It concludes with a showcase held in a major West End venue, to which agents, casting directors, film, television and theatre directors and other industry professionals are invited. On completion, students are qualified as actors and have a basic understanding of how to create their own work, including how to form companies and gain funding.

Entry requirements

Our applicants need to undertake a successful audition or video audition, plus have a 1st degree of upper 2nd Class standard or equivalent (GPA 3.0) or suitable previous life and/or professional expertise. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.0, or equivalent.

Course modules

Core modules: Advanced acting methodology and textual studies; advanced research living history project, devising project and acting for camera; contextual studies; movement; studio theatre production; voice; performance project; written dissertation; music and singing.

Assessment methods

You will be continuously assessed through observation of your practical projects, presentations, rehearsal, shows and performance, and contribution to class work. Any live performances are video-recorded and made available to our external examiners. You are also required to produce essays, written assignments, portfolios and reflective diaries or evaluations for assessment purposes.
