This course enables students to acquire the essential knowledge, skills, competency, and critical awareness necessary for a rewarding career in the electronics industry. It prepares them for a career in analogue and digital circuit design. This course is far-reaching and includes theory, practice, simulation and realisation underpinned by our 40 years of expertise in electronics and telecommunications. Students are equipped with skills in: Analogue design; digital design; signal processing; computer aided design; time domain analysis; frequency domain analysis; IC design; PCB manufacture; fault analysis; electronic device principles; embedded processing; DSPs and fast prototyping.
Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in computer science, electronic engineering or a related discipline. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.0, or equivalent.
Core modules: Project and dissertation; electronic system design and integration; professional practice and research methodology; programming embedded systems; programming in Java; theory of signals and systems. Optional modules include: Advanced embedded systems design; advanced transport networks; creating and growing a new business venture; digital communications; digital signal processing; high level logic design; intelligent systems and robotics; IP networking and applications; mathematical research techniques using Matlab; mobile communications; networking principles.
Combination of written coursework, end-of-term tests, practical and laboratory work (where appropriate) and end-of-year exams. During the summer, you will work on a dissertation or individual project included in your final grade.
