Advanced Computer Science
Students are able to choose from a range of modules that encompass agent-based and multi-agent systems, machine learning, pattern recognition, distributed information management systems, embedded systems, robotics, evolutionary computation, theoretical computer science, formal methods and many more.
Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in computer science, electronic engineering or a related discipline. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.0, or equivalent.
Core modules: Project and dissertation; group project; professional practice and research methodology. Optional modules include: Advanced web technologies; artificial neural networks; cloud technologies and systems; computer security; computer vision; creating and growing a new business venture; e-commerce programming; evolutionary computation and genetic programming; high performance computing; intelligent systems and robotics; machine learning and data mining; mathematical research techniques using matlab; mobile and social application programming; natural language engineering; text analytics.
Assessment methods include written examinations, together with continual assessments of your practical work and coursework, including a research project undertaken over the summer.
