University of Essex
Computer games are expected to reach a global revenue of 111 billion dollars in 2015, yet over half of the UKs video games employers reported a lack of suitably-skilled graduates in 2011. We give students the skills needed to capitalise on this rapidly-growing field and help them develop the contacts needed to enter industry. Students develop theoretical and practical knowledge in game design, game AI, 3D games development, mobile application programming and physics-based games. Our flexible approach allows students to fill gaps in their knowledge and brush up on a variety of languages, making sure theyre ready to bring their designs to life. Our optional business module focuses on developing entrepreneurial spirit, teaching students how to apply their technical and creative skills to their own venture.
Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in computer science, electronic engineering or a related discipline. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.0, or equivalent.
Assessment is based on a dissertation.
