Statistics and Econometrics

Econometrics can be described as the application of statistics in an economic context so this course interests those students whose 1st degree included some training in both statistics and economics. Specialised statistical methods are required to deal with the particular problems of economic data and these are reflected in our modules, many of which are given by staff from our department of economics, for instance, time series econometrics provides students with methods for analysing the dynamic processes that are often found in macroeconomics, while empirical methods of economics and finance introduces students to techniques for analysing stock market and other financial data.

Entry requirements

Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
