Accounting and Management

This course is designed for those wishing to follow a career in research and/or academia, so study equips students with the skills and knowledge to appreciate the depth and breadth of this in a social science context.

Entry requirements

Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in a related discipline. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Options: accounting and professionalism; advanced research methods: empirical explorations the contemporary workplace; audit theory; bank strategy and risk; behavioural finance; business strategy; cases in corporate governance; corporate finance; corporate reporting and analysis; creativity and organisation; critical marketing; derivative securities; environment, sustainability and management; exchange rates and international finance; financial decision making; financial modelling; fixed income securities; global investments; human resource management; industry expert lectures in finance; international environment of business; international financial reporting; international management accounting; issues in financial reporting; management accounting; management in organisations; management psychology; managing across cultures; managing for ethics and sustainability; modern banking; perspectives on corporate governance; perspectives on marketing; philosophy of management and accounting; portfolio management; postgraduate; mathematics preparation; research evaluation projects; research methods and methodologies in accounting and management; risk management; strategic brand communication; strategy and accounting; trading global financial markets.

Assessment methods

Combination of written coursework, end-of-term tests, practical and laboratory work (where appropriate) and end-of-year exams. During the summer, you will work on a dissertation or individual project included in your final grade.
