Advertising, Marketing and the Media
Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in sociology or a related discipline. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
Stage 1 modules: Critical marketing; media theory; advertising: commerce and creativity; dissertation; strategic brand communication. Options: Advertising: commerce and creativity; colonialism, culture and human rights; contemporary debates in sociology; culture and intimacy; formative debates in criminology; management in organisations; marketing: principles and practices; perspectives on marketing; quantitative analysis from univariate to multivariate methods; research methods and methodologies in accounting and management; sociological research design; sociology of human rights 1; texts and documents.
Combination of written coursework, end-of-term tests, practical and laboratory work (where appropriate) and end-of-year exams. During the summer, you will work on a dissertation or individual project included in your final grade.
