Finance and Data Analytics
The finance industry has a growing demand for students who can understand finance and statistical modelling specifically in the context of the large and growing data available to financial firms. The course prepares students to work in future finance and financial services with the necessary combination of quantitative, statistical and technical skills appropriate for a world powered by big data.
Our applicants should have a 1st, 2.1 or high 2.2 degree, or equivalent, in finance, economics or business. We also welcome applications from candidates with any science or engineering degrees. If English is not your 1st language, then we require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
Core modules: Data analytics in finance; dissertation; research methods in finance (empirical methods in finance); portfolio management; trading global financial markets. Optional modules include: Asset pricing; bank strategy and risk; behavioural finance; corporate finance; derivative securities; financial modelling; fixed income securities; industry expert lectures in finance; modern banking; risk management.
Assessment methods include coursework and 15,000-word dissertation.
