University of Essex
This course specialises in econometric methods, behavioural finance, corporate finance, banking and international finance and risk management. As well as providing a programme of training and events focussing on a range of quantitative methods available to explore markets and financial assets, our doctoral students have the opportunity to engage with practitioners through events and seminars that actively encourage reflection and interaction on the current economic climate, such as the seminar series focussing on risk management in the banking sector.
For research study within our Essex Business School, we normally require a good Master's degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline. A well developed research proposal is also essential. However, if you do not have a Master's degree, we also offer a 4-year integrated PhD, where your 1st year is spent doing a Master's before embarking on your research. This preparatory year ensures you develop your knowledge before embarking on your independent research. If English is not your 1st language, then we will require you to have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
Assessment methods include thesis.
