This course provides tailored support for the researcher-in-training, in any of our areas, with a number of subject-specific and research-support graduate modules available, according to the nature of the student's dissertation project and newly developed professional development training modules; language modules may be taken as needed; compared to our MA courses, all our MRes programmes offers flexibility and fewer taught modules with emphasis on the students' dissertations and individual research assignments. Students must have a draft of their research proposal at their application stage, then a supervisor is assigned to them to guide their choice of modules and work on their dissertations.
Upper 2nd Class Honours degree, or equivalent, in relevant subject; IELTS 6.5.
Typically involves written coursework, class tests and practical testing.
Research councils and some University of Essex studentships available.
