University of Exeter
Water Engineering with Management
Drawing on the expertise of the Centre for Water Systems, this Masters provides knowledge and key skills in the broad area of urban water engineering and management. Alongside the core engineering modules, you will also study two management modules taught by the Business School which will help you develop transferable professional management skills that will enhance your study experience and improve your career prospects. Water supply, sanitation and drainage are fundamental to the economic and social development of all urban communities. Reliable, sustainable and affordable water management systems form the key to enhancing the quality of life of billions of people throughout the world. Poor water supply, drainage and sanitation lead to ill-health, low economic growth and a polluted environment. Modules cover the essential aspects of clean water supply (supply, treatment and distribution) and waste water disposal (sewerage, treatment and flooding), providing an understanding of how these systems work and tools for simulating their performance. You will carry out a major project on an industrially relevant topic, supervised by Centre for Water Systems staff. This programme is ideal if you are an engineering graduate wishing to enhance your capabilities in urban water design, operation and management, or an engineer working in the water industry looking to acquire knowledge, skills and a formal qualification in this area. The programme will open up a wide range of employment opportunities and can act as a foundation for further research in the areas of urban water management and water systems. Water engineering is of significant global interest and highly trained graduates are highly sought after. Graduates can expect to take on exciting roles in consultancies, water utilities, contractors, regulatory bodies, government agencies, and international organisations following successful completion of the programme.
The University of Exeter invests heavily in scholarships for talented prospective Masters students. This is in addition to the Government's Postgraduate Loan Scheme. For information on how you can fund your postgraduate degree at Exeter, please visit the postgraduate study pages of our website.
