Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapies and Approaches

The programme develops competence in established evidence-based applications, especially for the prevention of relapse in recurrent major depression, but also for clients in a range of different settings including physical and mental healthcare and education.

Entry requirements

A degree in psychology or related topic; requisite personal and interpersonal qualities (eg genuineness, compassion, warmth, empathy, potency), attendance on an 8 week course with a teacher who meets UK Network Good Practice Guidelines.

Course modules

Year 1: a grounded and experiential understanding of MBCT/MBA; Year 2: prepares students to teach MBCT/MBA classes for clients; Year 3: a thesis or empirical research project.

Assessment methods

A variety of methods throughout the programme including: essays, Live observation of delivery of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapies and Approaches along with a 1,500 word commentary, 10,000 word dissertation.
