Anthropology

Current areas of research focus are: addiction; childhood and old age; human/animal interactions; health and illness, including global health and policy and disability; science and development; race, ethnicity, racism and migration; warfare and secrecy; life and the natural world; art and consumption; sound studies; ritual and religion; material culture, trade and circulation. The three main research clusters are; Science and Technology Studies (STS); Cultural Sociology; Social Philosophy. Department Specialisms are ; Philosophy of science; Genetics and biological science; Science policy; Health and health technologies; Disabilities; Cultures of warfare; Security and insecurity; Cognition, embodiment and consciousness; The sociology of art, aesthetics and music; The sociology and anthropology of sound; Human-animal relations and Social critique

Entry requirements

Normally a good first degree either in Anthropology or another subject that could prepare you for a research project within the Department of Sociology, Philosophy and Anthropology. Sponsorship information
