Finance and Investment

The programme provides a broad knowledge in finance, combined with practical application, to help graduates develop the confidence and ability for a challenging career in finance, either in investment analysis or portfolio management. The MSc Finance and Investment is one of the few finance postgraduate programs in UK that is recognised by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) as offering leadership in academic education in the area of financial markets.

Course modules

During the programme you will study modules (including the dissertation in the 12 month variant) totalling 180 credits. Please note that programme structures may be subject to change. Recent examples of compulsory modules are as follows; Financial Instruments; Financial Modelling; Fundamentals of Financial Management; Investment Analysis and Investment Research Methods.
Some recent examples of optional modules are as follows; Advanced Corporate Finance; Banking and Financial Services; Derivatives Pricing; Domestic and International Portfolio Management; International Financial Management; Topics in Financial Economics ; Corporate Finance and Governance; Mergers, Management Buyouts and Other Corporate Reorganizations and Alternative Investments.

Assessment methods

Modules are assessed through a mixture of group work, coursework, project work and examinations.
