The course provides the opportunity to acquire professional training in mainstream economies, including analytical techniques and subject-specific knowledge. The course provides rigorous training in the techniques of economic and econometric analysis to enable students to understand contemporary economic issues. The course offers a great choice of modules so students can pursue their specific interests. This programme forms part of the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Centre and can lead to a funded PhD studentship for UK/EU students.
A good Honours degree in a subject where the majority of modules have been taken in Economics and Mathematics. The majority of our candidates are expecting a 1st or 2.1 degree, however, we do consider all applications where there is evidence of exceptional performance in modules relevant to the programme of study, extended relevant work experience or professional qualifications.
By a combination of written examinations and coursework plus a dissertation of 15,000 words.
