Art History (The Renaissance in Northern Europe and Italy)

This programme explores the richness and complexity of artistic invention from the late 13th to the 17th centuries. It provides students with hands-on engagement with original illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, and other works of art in world-class collections and opportunities to visit Scottish renaissance architectural monuments. Another key strength of the programme is its interdisciplinary core course which enables students to engage with a variety of methodological, theoretical, and technical perspectives according to their individual needs and interests.
