International Financial Analysis
This programme is designed to assist students to obtain a professional financial qualification and equip graduates with knowledge essential for a career in financial analysis, investment management and allied financial services. Also aimed at smoothing the way to obtaining the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Institute Charter and a professional career in financial services. The programme covers the 1st-level syllabus of the CFA Institute; it offers a grounding in topics that is of importance to budding financial professionals. Programme objectives: explain the treasury function of multinational companies; analyse the way in which businesses respond to issues of financing and investment; explain and analyse the functioning of the principal capital markets, and the features of the main products traded on these markets; analyse the accounts of major multinational corporations.
2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent (for example, a GPA of 3.0 or above) in any subject, with at least 1 credit credit-bearing course in introductory finance or economics, at least 1 credit-bearing course in introductory accounting and school level mathematics or at least 1 credit bearing module in university level mathematics.
5 core courses, 3 optional courses and complete a substantial independent piece of work, normally in the form of a dissertation of around 12,000 words. Core courses: international capital markets; international corporate finance; statistics for business research; financial analysis and equity valuation; financial reporting and interpretation. Optional courses: international financial management; financial management in banking; risk management and derivative securities.
