The programme prepares students to meet the demands of the profession through the following areas of study; understanding learning and teaching; learning and teaching in the secondary curriculum and evaluating learning and teaching.
A UK Bachelor degree or a recognised equivalent non-UK degree qualification; the degree should contain 80 credit points in the subject which the applicant intends to teach, 40 of which must be SCQF level 8 /Year 2 level or above; SCE Higher English at grade C or above (or GCSE English language and GCSE English literature both at grade C or above); interview.
