Criminology and Criminal Justice
The programme provides students with the key attributes for professions related to criminal justice. Students develop analytic and research skills, an interdisciplinary knowledge base, and a practical understanding of the settings in which crime and justice policies are devised and implemented.
Applicants require a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, Grade Point Average 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject. Applicants require 3 years' relevant work experience in addition to standard entry requirements. For applicants whose 1st language is not English, the University sets a minimum English language proficiency level, being IELTS overall 6.5 score (no sub-test less than 6.0), or equivalent scores in another recognised qualification.
Core modules: understanding and explaining crime; criminal justice (global challenges); research and enquiry in crime and criminal justice; options; punishment and penology; crime, media and popular culture; crime and community safety; rehabilitation and desistance from crime; the global criminal economy.
