University of Glasgow
The programme is divided into 3 equal parts, with the 1st part further subdivided. Students will take a series of core courses, choose optional courses and undertake a dissertation or a major project in real estate. The core semester 1 courses are multi-disciplinary in nature and use lectures, seminars, tutorials and cases studies to focus on the urban development and planning theories, principles and policies which are necessary for students to build a thorough understanding of how urban areas and economics function. In addition, students gain an appreciation of real estate values and apply valuation and appraisal principles and techniques in practice-based activities. In semester 2 students will build on this knowledge base by developing core real estate skills.
Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, GPA 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject; applicants with a lower 2nd Honours degree may be accepted, if warranted by strong references and/or relevant work experience. For applicants whose 1st language isn't English a IELTS score of 6.5 with no sub-test below 6.0 or equivalent test score is required.
Subjects covered include: development appraisal; real estate finance and investment; real estate economics markets; advanced real estate valuation and appraisal; real estate management.
