Sports Therapy

Gain the practical skills and experience needed to enter the emerging profession of sports therapy. This highly practical course will equip you with a unique set of skills within the field of sports science and prepare you for a rewarding career working with elite and non-elite athletes. On this practical and distinctive course you will gain the skills to work in an exciting and rewarding profession that is currently seeking recognition, regulation and protection in the same way as other allied health professions. The course prepares sports science graduates to work as Graduate Sports Therapists, delivering a full set of competencies within the elite and amateur sectors, from soft tissue therapies and joint mobilisations, to pitch-side first aid, taping and strapping. Working with teams and individuals, you will have the skills to rehabilitate athletes to full sports participation as well as examine and assess injuries for diagnosis or onward referral. All learning is acutely focused on acquiring professional skills which means students underpin their studies with placements and practical experience. The motivated teaching staff are well connected to the sports industry with experience of working as professional sports therapists and within elite sports settings. Entry requirements

At least a 2.2 Honours degree or equivalent in a sport science or sport and exercise science or related subjects. Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the course will be required to undertake the bridging module sports science for sports therapists. Subject to satisfactory DBS disclosure. International students need IELTS 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in any other band) or equivalent.
