Primary Education (5-11 years)
This course gives a high priority to developing students abilities of analysis, evaluation and autonomous learning and development; placements are in 2 different schools; leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.
2.2 degree in a relevant subject for the primary school curriculum; or at least 1/2 of degree study time spent on an area that relates to the primary curriculum; GCSE mathematics and English and science grade C or above (or equivalent); evidence of successful experience in a primary classroom (a minimum of 10 full days is advised); in addition to the above, successful applicants are required to complete 2 weeks school experience in a primary school before commencing the PGCE course; this is to complete set tasks in preparation for training.
