Film Production

The MA in Film Production offers postgraduate students the opportunity to advance skills learnt at undergraduate level to create sophisticated, technically proficient, professionally produced, expertly-written films. The students' practical and theoretical understanding of filmmaking will be advanced by internationally renowned lecturers and filmmakers. Students will have access to industry-standard equipment, a professional on-campus film studio, personal edit suites with requisite post-production software, and sessions with external film experts. Students will be encouraged to creatively explore the art of filmmaking within the context of a highly structured production environment, and should graduate with clearly articulated outputs that may be used to advance their careers in film production.

Entry requirements

Applicants require at least a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent industry experience. International students need IELTS 6.5 overall (no less than 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in any other band) or equivalent.

Assessment methods

Student practical work (film projects) will be assessed in the modules that include specific production activity. Written work will be assessed in both production modules that include written submissions (including pre-production material) and in modules that require academic writing (including textual studies and postgraduate thesis).
