International Human Resource Management

This course offers an opportunity to focus on cultural and management issues at the international level. It will provide you with the ability to develop a systematic understanding and critical awareness of current problems and issues in an international context. You will gain understanding of core business concepts, helping you understand the role of the organisations in the changing global business environment and the ethical responsibilities of policy makers within organisations. You will study organisational behaviour and leadership, human resource strategy, human resource management functions and knowledge and consultancy interventions. You will also undertake a dissertation in order to demonstrate deeper knowledge and understanding in a particular area of interest. Alongside the core curriculum, you will gain a general business education which will help you to understand the role of organisations in the changing global business environment and the ethical responsibilities of policy makers within organisations.

Entry requirements

You should have a relevant undergraduate degree at 2.2 or above, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised university or higher education institute. If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) or equivalent. If you require a Tier 4 (General) student visa to study in the UK, your score must be from a UK Visas and Immigration approved IELTS test.

Course modules

Compulsory modules: Organisation behaviour and leadership; business English for academic purposes; human resource strategy; human resource management functions; international context of HRM; dissertation (MAIHRM); knowledge and consultancy interventions; foundations of scholarship (MAIHRM); research methods (MAIHRM).

Assessment methods

Students are assessed on varied aspects of organisational practice through: Portfolios; case studies; presentations; practical activities; written assignments.
