University of Greenwich
Business and Financial Economics
This programme enables students to combine solid training in theory and method with stimulating exposure to economics and financial data sources. The programme weaves a three-way linkage between business and financial economics theory, data analysis, and application of theory and method to policy and strategy issues in the world of business and finance. Programme features include structured conversion, enabling students to combine theory and evidence to produce evidence-based work, and rigorous application, enabling students to combine theory and evidence to develop evidence-based answers to economic and business issues. Students also become competent in data access and analysis, enabling them to access, manage and analyse data on a wide range of economic and business issues. A work placement gives the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills and prepare for work as a professional economist.
A first degree in economics, industrial organisation, financial management or public policy (generally a minimum 2.2 or equivalent). Graduates in business studies, mathematics/IT, social sciences, and engineering are also welcome to apply - provided that economics or quantitative methods constitute a component of their studies. Students educated in a language other than English should have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent as minimum. Applicants with higher scores will be given priority. Alternatively, students can enter via the University of Greenwich International Pre-Master's Programme.
Modules include: Data access, management and analysis; introduction to economic analysis and quantitative methods; business economics (markets and strategies); economic analysis of business performance; economics of finance and investment; economic analysis of financial markets; applied modelling and data analysis; statistical methods for research.
