Mental Health Nursing Studies

The programme provides qualified mental health nurses with a post graduate nursing-specific award and develops expert knowledge and comprehension of mental health in order to advance the quality of practice and enhance outcomes for people using mental health services. It also equips mental health nurses with the clinical and academic leadership required to meet the changing needs of the profession at an advanced level and prepares them to undertake further post graduate study.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree and extensive mental health practice, current registration with the NMC as a Mental Health Nurse and endorsement by their employer and supported by their clinical or line manager, as well as evidence of study, professional development and motivation to progress in the past 5 years.

Course modules

Modules include: Clinical and academic leadership in mental health nursing; portfolio of innovative practice; recovery in mental health; advanced assessing in mental health.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include essays, portfolios, posters and presentations.
