Child and Adolescent Psychology

This programme will help students to develop an in-depth understanding of current issues in child and adolescent psychology and provides a robust training in advanced statistics and research methods which will prepare them for a research career or for further postgraduate study. There is a practical and applied element, and a work placement, atendees will have the opportunity to conduct a substantial piece of research in child and adolescent psychology.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a 1st degree in psychology or a relevant subject, normally at upper 2nd class Honours or above.

Course modules

Modules include: Current issues in child and adolescent psychology; advanced research methods in psychology; advanced statistical methods; child and adolescent psychology in practice; applied psychology project.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes essays, portfolios, oral presentations, practical research reports, research posters and examinations. Students will also be required to produce an independent piece of work based on their work placement and an independent project reporting on a substantial research area including the collection of empirical data or equivalent.
