Strength and Conditioning

This course is focused on the application of strength and conditioning as one of the most effective tools to improve both health and performance. The evidence-based content, supported by an extensive practical programme, will provide students with the opportunity to obtain professional accreditations from the most respected organisations in the field: National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA).

A related degree is required. Further entry requirements are available on request.

Course modules

Modules include: Strength and conditioning research project; applied strength and conditioning; physiology and biomechanics of strength and conditioning; sports nutrition and supplements in strength and conditioning; research methods and professional practice in strength and conditioning; sports specific strength and conditioning; resistance training applied for health, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Assessment methods

Assessment is through essays, case study and problem solving exercises, time-constrained tests, formal reports, presentations, portfolio, written examinations, practical assessments and independent research project.
