Research areas include: microbial biotechnology; environmental biotechnology; industrial biotechnology; environmental microbiology/microbial ecology; agricultural biotechnology; biosensor technology for industrial and environmental applications; bioremediation/biodgraduation of organis and inorganic pollutants (including remediation of PAHs and hydrocarbons, impact of heavy metals); water and effluent treatment; pharmaceutical microbiology; antibiotic production in fungi; angi-funal metabolite production by bacteria; environmental impact of genetic modification; biocontrol of plant disease; plant pathology, econoly of plant pathogens; population genetics; diagnosis, epidemiology and control of plant diseases using molecular techniques; public health microbiology; molecular microbiology.
An Honours degree in the study area; relevant work experience.
