Finance and Investment Management

This programme applies theory and practice to aspects of finance and investment management. Students develop knowledge and skills to identify suitable tools for the investigation of issues in areas such as investment analysis; fund/asset management; economics analysis and financial reporting.

Entry requirements

A 1st Class Honours (1st) or 2nd Class Honours, upper division (2.1) from a UK university in the field of economics, finance, accountancy or business with an applied quantitative element. The equivalent of the above from a recognized university overseas. An Honours degree equivalent professional qualification (including ACCA, CIMA CIPFA, CFA, ICAEW, ICS, ICI rel. A postgraduate qualification from a UK university or its equivalent from a recognized overseas university, in the field of economics, finance, accountancy or business with an applied quantitative element. A 2nd Class Honours (2.2) will be considered depending on the nature of the degree and labour market experience at an appropriate level (for normally a minimum of 2 years). All students from non-majority English speaking countries require proof of English language proficiency. The following qualifications and grades will be considered: GCSE English language grade A-C; IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in any band).

Modules include: asset valuation; dissertation; financial data analysis; financial economics 1; financial economics 2; financial markets (FIM); financial statement analysis 1; financial statement analysis 2; quantitative analysis; research methods.
