Primary Education (Upper Primary)
Training consists of a blend of campus-based teaching, directed independent study and school-based training in Foundation Stage / Key Stage 1. Trainees have a full timetable that spans 5 days a week, so commitment and resilience are essential qualities.
Minimum 2.2 (Hons) degree required awarded by a UK university (or equivalent). GSCE English language, mathematics and science (a single subject or combined award) at grade C or above (or equivalent). Students also need recent (last 2 years) work experience in a state primary school of at least 10 days, preferably gained in a continuous block in order to complete school-based tasks. Students are required to pass Professional Skills Tests in literacy and numeracy. Interview required to assess personal suitability for teaching. Applicants with overseas qualifications must have them validated by NARIC before applying.
