Data Communications and Networks
This course enables students to study the analytical techniques that are used to describe the properties of signals carried by digital systems and learn the techniques by which digital systems can be applied to filter, compress and process these signals.
An Honours degree, at least (2.2 or above) in electronics; computer engineering; computer technology, or a closely related discipline; applicants also need to have studied relevant material to sufficient depth to allow them to benefit from research-based study; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0.
Modules include: Broadband networks and data communications; distributed systems security; projects; multicast and multimedia networking; operations management; operations research; radio and mobile communications; wireless, mobile and ad-hoc networking.
