Advanced Digital Systems

This programme enables students to develop design skills for the integration of software and hardware subsystems; the emphasis is on software-hardware co-design methodologies; the design skills are developed by studying a range of specialist processor architectures and acceleration mechanisms.

Entry requirements

A 2nd Class Honours degree in electronics; computer engineering; computer technology; or a related discipline. Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent is required for those whose 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Modules include: Advanced reconfigurable systems and applications; computer architecture design; digital signal processing and processes; distributed systems security; MSc projects; operations management; operations research. Optional modules: artificial intelligence; projects; mixed mode and vlsi technologies.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on the completion of a major project.
