Radio and Mobile Communication Systems

The course addresses recent advances in mobile communication systems, with full coverage of both radio-frequency (RF) and data communication networks; the content reflects the current migration to tetherless networks; students study the latest protocols used by mobile communication systems, and learn to apply the principles of RF engineering to the design of such systems; the course also includes study of the application of digital signal processing techniques to mobile communication systems.

Entry requirements

A 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or above in electronics; computer engineering; computer technology; or a closely related subject; if English is not the 1st language, an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent is required.

Course modules

Modules include: Data communications and network principles; mixed mode and VSLI; multicast and multimedia networking; operations management; radio and mobile communication systems; wireless, mobile and ad-hoc networking; project.
