Dietetics (advanced practice)

This programme is designed to meet the needs of dietitians from different areas of practice. It supports independent learning and reflection in practice, and enhances students' specialist professional skills.

Entry requirements

Applicants will normally have completed a relevant university degree and have a recognised qualification in dietetics. You will normally have at least 1 year's post-qualification experience (post internship) and evidence of appropriate continuing professional development. You must also satisfy the University's English language requirement for this programme, IELTS at Level 7.0 (including 7.0 in the writing component).

Course modules

Modules include: developing research skills for health professionals; developing and managing people in health and social care; developing and managing people in healthcare; facilitation of education in practice 1 and 2; gastroenterology (nutritional and dietetic management); independent professional study 1 and 2; independent work based skills 1, 2 and 3; independent reflection in professional practice 1 and 2; obesity and weight management; preparing for postgraduate success; research dissertation; research methods; weight management.

Assessment methods

Assessment is based on essays, presentations, reports, posters and practical examinations.
