Social Work

This programme incorporates the qualifying award for social work practice; it has been developed in collaboration with service providers including Hertfordshire County Council and Brent Social Services; the programme continues to have strong links with a number of voluntary agencies and organisations.

Entry requirements

A relevant 2:1 1st degree, although a 2:2 or a postgraduate diploma or professional qualification recognised as being equivalent to a UK honours degree with a pass at an appropriate standard may also be considered; admission is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure and Occupational Health screening; all candidates are required to undertake a written test; applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 7.0.

Course modules

Modules include: Children, family and mental health law; social work ethics; European social work; values and diversity; social and organisational context for social work; social policy; interprofessional working; human growth and development; mental health and children law; dissertation.

Sponsorship information

UK students are eligible for a bursary from the General Social Care Council to cover the course fees, plus a discretionary means-tested bursary for living costs.
