Skin Integrity Skills and Treatment

The programme is for health professionals wishing to develop or extend practical skills, knowledge and experience in wound management and skin integrity.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have completed a relevant university degree and have a recognised professional qualification. 2 years post registration experience, current clinical experience of a minimum 6 months in a clinical setting with access to patients with chronic wounds and skin conditions. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Applicants require appropriate visa status to study in the UK. Proof of English language ability is required for non-UK students to be able to communicate with patients and staff and to complete master's level assignments at the appropriate academic standard. Students with a recognised postgraduate wound management qualification e.g. IIWC (Toronto University) may be able to transfer existing credits into this programme and should contact the Programme Leader when applying and will study a shorter programme of study. Due to the specialist nature of this programme you will be required to discuss your programme of study with the Programme Leader prior to completing your application form so that your eligibility for particular modules can be assessed. If you already have a relevant postgraduate qualification you may be able to transfer existing credits into this programme. If you do not have a formal English language qualification, it may be possible to take our English language test in your own country at the office of our representative. International students normally require a Student Visa to study a Full Time postgraduate programme in the UK.

Modules include: Evidence-based practice; healthcare disciplines project; the remaining credits are chosen from: skin integrity and tissue repair; enhancing skin integrity skills; chronic skin conditions; therapeutics for skin conditions; mind and skin; business skills for clinicians; clinical negligence; leadership in practice.
